This OWL is BAMF!

That stands for bad-ass-mother-fucker.

Oh yeah. I went there.

What did you say? This owl will slap you silly!

Or not. I don't know.

New arts for me! Took about an hour.

Coffee, ink, and colored pencil on watercolor paper.

New Art!!!

This is my latest painting. Took me about 2 hours on Saturday, from start to finish. It's coffee, watercolors, ink and colored pencil on watercolor paper.

A self portrait entitled "Empty. . ."
I'm very happy with how it turned out. And, as it's a very personal painting, I will be keeping it! Probably will be hanging in my studio shortly . . . .

Sketch Dump Part 2!

I figured I'd share my other recent sketches in a seperate post. Why? Because I can!

Chickadee, raven and ermine.

More foxes!

Sparrow.

House sparrows.

And more house sparrows.
I'll be drawing and hopefully painting a lot more.

Sketch Dump!

I've been inspired lately to draw. I have ideas for drawings and paintings I'd like to do, but I've been in a "sketchy" mood.

I do have to appologize for the crappy photos. Quite frankly, I was too lazy to shoot them in my light box.

Also, I use an "F" lead pencil when I sketch and it's pretty light in color.

Fox and a gryphon, um, thing (eagle head, fox body).

Fox and raven.

Jumping foxes!!

Yeah. Been in a fox and bird mood . . . . :)

Feature Friday - Noosed Kitty

This Friday's featured shop is Noosed Kitty. Noosed Kitty features the art of Jaime Fales.

I asolutely LOVE her artwork! I'm not sure how I'd describe it. A little gothic, a little cutesy, with some whimsy and humor.

This print is just pure awesome! Why? One, it's a boston terrier. Two, he's kinda zombie-ish. You can't go wrong with that combo.

This print is titled Pink Leaves. I find it very calming.

I'm digging Bat Girl. So forlorgn . . .
And of course I'd have to include Tools of a Trade Nurse . . . . .being a nurse myself and all.
If you want some unique artwork, please stop by Noosed Kitty.

PAINTINGS!

We all know that I make plushies. But many of you may not know that I also draw and paint. Yep! My style has certainly evolved through the years, from highly detailed, realistic animals, to a more loose abstract style.

My mom is cleaning out her basement and found some of my very first paintings! I've never shown these to the public, only family have seen them (my hubby hadn't even seen them until my mom drug them out!).

All are oils on canvas, and circa 1995-1998, I think.

One of my very first paintings! My drawings were all highly detailed and realistic, and this was my first attempt at a more abstract representation.

A more "realistic" wolf. Also my first wolf painting ever.

My first scenery painting. My grandma paints amazing scenery and landscapes, and I think I was trying to be like her!

A painting done from a photo of a raccoon outside my dad's porch window. Note how the proportions are way off. :D

Painting of the sea. This painting is based off a famous work of art (don't ask me what the painting is called, or who the artist is - I don't remember at all). This painting was an assignment in a painting class I took when I first started college.

Another class assignment. We were supposed to paint an "issue". So my issue was deforestation, and encroachment on wildlife. So the reflection in the water is the wolf's skeleton with dead trees.
So there you have it! Artwork that the public hasn't seen!

It's too early

I'm writing this at 6:15 am, but 've been up since 5:30. With my son of course. Watching Blues Clues (am I the only one who has the hots for Steve?).

Mmmmmmm. Yummy. And yes, these are pictures of Steve Burns, the Blues Clues guy. Hot. In a dorky kind of way . . .

Okay. Uh, moving on. Um, COFFEE! Yes. Coffee. LOVE me some coffee! So why not share some delightful coffee inspired yumminess from Etsy!

First up is this art tile by lulunjay. Combines 2 of my favorite things - goats and coffee!

You know I'd have to include some scrupmtuous coffee soap! From CampoDiFiore! Must. Not. Eat.

Haha! A coffee loving nun!! From nunofakind! HAD to share this!

I'm on my second cup'o'joe and feeling pretty good!

Mmmmmmm. Yummy.

I got a fever . . .

And the only prescription is more COWBELL!

Oh man I love that skit!! Christopher Walkin is awesome! 'nuff said!

So anyway, I've been itching to paint and draw again (a fever, you might say . . .). I have all these fantastical ideas floating around my head and I've done a few sketches. My problems are:

1. finding time to paint in between work, family, friends, and sewing and,

2. deciding where to post my art

Meaning, do I want to add them to my current etsy shop or if I should open a second shop? My artwork will be, um, pretty strange. Like maybe some zombies and zombie animals as well as dark abstract type stuff. I think it will fit with my current shop, so I'll probably try it there first. We'll see.

And I'll leave you with a pic of me! 'Cause I'm a big dork! :)
