Feature Friday: Weird Bug Lady

This Friday's featured shop is the Weird Bug Lady! I can't say enough about this shop! If you love bugs, this is the place for you! Her shop is very unique and offers the most amazing invertebrates. She specializes in plush soft-sculpture (which you have to see to believe) and beautiful artwork done in sharpie markers.

This Giraffe Weevil is simply stunning. She designs these critters herself and they're nothing short of spectacular.

The dung beetle is my favorite! It comes with it's own ball of dung! How awesome is that?! Everyone needs a dung beetle!

Weird Bug Lady rocks!

A Scary Little Wolf

People probably think that I'm demented. I'm okay with that. Because I am. (if you started reading Stephen King at the age of 10, you'd be a little off as well!) My newest creation is a wolf. Eating a bunny. This wolf had been sitting in my shop for over a month. Nobody wanted him. He got angry. He went crazy. And now he eats bunnies. He's so darn cute though!

See how cute he is with his severed bunny head? I just wanna squish him!

Fun with Fur

Going through boxes in my basement, I found a very large stash of fur. Meaning pelts, fox, coyote, raccoon, and bobcat faces, tails, and scraps. What to do with all of this fur . . . .


Hey! Why not use it in my plushies?! I mean, I use FAUX fur, so why not use the real thing? Well, that's just what I did. I have 2 plushies right now using tails (coyote and raccoon), and I'm working on a custom order of a ferret. I have 2 ferrets that I'm making - one completely out of raccoon fur, and one out of opposum fur and faux fur (I don't have pics of these yet, but they will be posted in my next update). Here are my 2 finished critters:

The top one uses faux fur and a coyote tail, the second one is tweed, microsuede, and a raccoon tail. Working with the tails is easy - just like attaching any other tail. My 2 ferrets, though, are proving much more troublesome. I'm having to do a lot of the sewing by hand.
