So anyway, I've been spending lots more time on DeviantArt. I've had my DA page for almost a year, but have only been really active on it recently. I've met some fabulous artists on there and I'm interested in really promoting my artwork there.

So yeah. I'm hosting a Kiriban. I have it set at the 25ooth page view! Low to start, and I'll be hosting Kiribans ever few thousand page views. (And I say low to start, because my page views are sitting at 1042 as I type this)

I also made a new rat today! Boris!

Boris was a senior member in the Ratty Russian Mob. He's since retired.

I got a rat!!

On Mondays I normally share a nursing story. But today I'm going on hiatus to share something new and exciting with you. I got a rat!!!! Yay! If you've folloed me at all, or have seen my shop, you know I love rats. My husband is allergic to everything with fur except for dogs. I've wanted a rat, well, since we've been together, but haven't been able to have one. Jeremy was nice enough to let me get one!! Right now it is still a trial. If his allergies act up I won't be able to keep him (I do love Jeremy more than a rat!), but I'm hoping it'll be ok.

His name is Murry and he's about a year old. He's very sweet and gentle. Ayden loves him, and Zan tries to get him to chase her!

Oh, and I want to apologize for the layout. Blogger won't let me move the images around. At all. No matter what I do. Stupid blogger . . .

What to write about . . .

I'm sure all of you are aware that yesterday was 09/09/09. Yay. How exciteing. Well, I worked yesterday in the nursery and it was a MAD HOUSE!!! I swear that every one who was 37 weeks preggers or more tried to have their baby yesterday. We did 8 deliveries on my shift and THANK GOD for the NICU! They went to our twin delivery while Libby and I were both at other deliveries. That makes 9 total. And there were 3 still in labor and 3 in triage when I left last night. Seriously? Is the date that important? So none of us got lunch, it was controlled chaos, but darnit - we had some cute babies!!! Most of them boys. I think we had 2 girls.

And just for fun, my Halloween rat!!! He sold last night which is bittersweet. I really like him. In his bat costume with posable wings!

Rat Ornaments!

I have high hopes for sales this Christmas. Duuuuuuuude. It's September! Why all this talk of Christmas? Well, because I'm hoping to sell Christmas ornaments! Cute and creepy ones! So why not start now?

Here's where you guys come in. I took a few pics of my first 2 rat ornaments and I'd love to get your opinion! They're smaller than my signature rat - about 2 inches. And darn cute in my opinion!

Rats

I love rats. I mean, love rats. I've owned them all my life and they're the perfect pet! Sadly, I don't have any right now. My hubby is allergic to everything with fur except dogs. I'm bound and determined to have rats again though. The office is now my studio, and is my domain. I've taken it over and moved his stuff out. Why not have my ratties in there? Where they won't bother him. That's my quest.

Why rats? Why not! They're cute, smart, clean, and loveable!

Can you deny this cuteness?! Just look at him!

Om nom nom nom! And yes, I like their tails. They don't creep me out. It's part of their awesomeness!

Until I get my own rats again, I'll continue to make them. Well, I'm sure I'll still make them after I have them as well!

I love rodents! I'll scream it from the rooftops!

Fun with Fur

Going through boxes in my basement, I found a very large stash of fur. Meaning pelts, fox, coyote, raccoon, and bobcat faces, tails, and scraps. What to do with all of this fur . . . .


Hey! Why not use it in my plushies?! I mean, I use FAUX fur, so why not use the real thing? Well, that's just what I did. I have 2 plushies right now using tails (coyote and raccoon), and I'm working on a custom order of a ferret. I have 2 ferrets that I'm making - one completely out of raccoon fur, and one out of opposum fur and faux fur (I don't have pics of these yet, but they will be posted in my next update). Here are my 2 finished critters:

The top one uses faux fur and a coyote tail, the second one is tweed, microsuede, and a raccoon tail. Working with the tails is easy - just like attaching any other tail. My 2 ferrets, though, are proving much more troublesome. I'm having to do a lot of the sewing by hand.
