Scary movies???
Last night Jeremy and I watched Drag Me To Hell. I love a good horror flick, especially one with a supernatural element. It had a couple gross parts, but was overall just plain stupid.
Which got me thinking - are there any good horror movies that really creep me out? And I mean really creep me out. Because there are horror movies (like the Friday the 13th movies) that'll make you jump, or gross you out, but aren't really scary.
I can really only come up with one: The Exorcism of Emily Rose.
This movie scared the bejesus out of me. It's thouroughly creepy and believable, and in some scenes just horrifically wrong.
There are other movies that have creepy scenes. The one that comes to mind is The Ring. When the girl is crawling out of the tv . . .very creepy. But the movie overall wasn't that scary.
So what movies scare you? Do you have a good horror flick I should watch?

Look Ma! I made a zombie!
It shouldn't come as a surprise that I made another zombie. A zombie cat this time! I call her Miss Priss.
She's made from terry cloth and has a jointed head - that she can turn a full 360 degrees!
And wee skeletal toes!
She'd like to gnaw your brains!

PAINTINGS!
We all know that I make plushies. But many of you may not know that I also draw and paint. Yep! My style has certainly evolved through the years, from highly detailed, realistic animals, to a more loose abstract style.
Painting of the sea. This painting is based off a famous work of art (don't ask me what the painting is called, or who the artist is - I don't remember at all). This painting was an assignment in a painting class I took when I first started college.
Another class assignment. We were supposed to paint an "issue". So my issue was deforestation, and encroachment on wildlife. So the reflection in the water is the wolf's skeleton with dead trees.
My mom is cleaning out her basement and found some of my very first paintings! I've never shown these to the public, only family have seen them (my hubby hadn't even seen them until my mom drug them out!).
All are oils on canvas, and circa 1995-1998, I think.
One of my very first paintings! My drawings were all highly detailed and realistic, and this was my first attempt at a more abstract representation.
A more "realistic" wolf. Also my first wolf painting ever.
My first scenery painting. My grandma paints amazing scenery and landscapes, and I think I was trying to be like her!
A painting done from a photo of a raccoon outside my dad's porch window. Note how the proportions are way off. :D

And the winner is . . . . .
Jiorji!
It's pretty funny. So yesterday I wrote out all the entries on a list. There were a few who had the max 3 entries, so their names appeared 3 times (duh). Well last night I drempt that the winning number was 18. This morning I got on random.org to pick the winning number . . . . .and it gave me 18! And number 18 is jiorji! Jiorji will be happy as she was hoping for a boyfriend for the sunburnt rat. (she bought her a while back and blogged her!)
Congrats jiorji!
I'll be having another giveaway next month! I'm thinking one of my Christmas rat ornaments! Or a zombie snowman . . . .hmmmmmm.

MIKE THE HEADLESS CHICKEN!!!
Hell yes! My hubby Jeremy sent me an email about a wonderful festival held yearly in Fruita Colorado. It's a festival to celebrate Mike the headless chicken, who lived for 18 months after having his head lopped off. That's right. 18 FREAKING MONTHS! WITHOUT A HEAD! It sounds crazy, I know!
"September 10th, 1945 finds a strapping (but tender) five and a half month old Wyandotte rooster pecking through the dust of Fruita, Colorado. The unsuspecting bird had never looked so delicious as he did that, now famous, day. Clara Olsen was planning on featuring the plump chicken in the evening meal. Husband Lloyd Olsen was sent out, on a very routine mission, to prepare the designated fryer for the pan. Nothing about this task turned out to be routine. Lloyd knew his Mother in Law would be dining with them and would savor the neck. He positioned his ax precisely, estimating just the right tolerances, to leave a generous neck bone. "It was as important to Suck-Up to your Mother in Law in the 40's as it is today." A skillful blow was executed and the chicken staggered around like most freshly terminated poultry.
Then the determined bird shook off the traumatic event and never looked back. Mike (it is unclear when the famous rooster took on the name) returned to his job of being a chicken. He pecked for food and preened his feathers just like the rest of his barnyard buddies."

But wait! How is this possible?
Well, Lloyd left just enough of Mike's brain stem so that he was still functioning like a normal chicken. Being a good farmer (really?) Lloyd stopped the bleeding and proceeded to feed and water Mike (by placing food directly into his esophagus).
Long video, but pretty funny.
Go check out Mike the headless chicken!

Feature Friday - Zemphira
Today's featured shop is also the next shop on the HPC list! Zemphira is another lovely Owl team member and has a gorgeous shop, full of all kinds a fabric yumminess! I have one of her zippered pouches (which carries my lip balm, floss, hairclips and other goodies in my purse), and a delightful coffee cup cozy! (we know how much I love coffee!)
Now, on to the goods!!
Her headbands are cute and stylish! I'll actually be ordering a couple, as I'm growing my hair out and I'm hitting that "akward" phase!
I had to share one of her art dolls. They're quite beautiful, with lots of hand embroidery.
Zipper pouch!! Like I said, I have one and it's fabulous! She has so many scrumptuous fabrics to choose from as well!
Coffee cozies!! Again, so many fabrics and so darn usefull.

HPC - Wei's Open Secret
This week's promo shop is Wei's Open Secret. Wei has so many wonderful things in her shop. Luggage and bag tags, pendants, bookmarks, cards . . . .so many lovely things!
This book mark is freaking cute! And it keeps your page for you with 2 small magnets.
Her pendants are divine! Many of them are wood, with beautiful painted graphics, that are sealed. I'm the proud owner of one of her pendants and I love it!!!
This tag is cute for kids and adults alike! Throw it on your lunch bag at work, and hopefully people will stop stealing your food!
Hooters!!! A 2-pack of scrabble tile pendants. Keep one for your self, and give one to a friend!
And I must say, Wei's Open Secret has the most gorgeous packaging! It was like a beautiful present you almost don't want to open! (I wish I had taken pics!). Be sure to show her shop some love!

Evil?
So we all know that I have made quite a few little rat Christmas ornaments. And we all know I make zombies. So of course I'll be making zombie Christmas ornaments! My first one is a snowman (which I had a suggestion/request for). He's pretty tame, as far a zombies go.
I think he's kinda cute . . . . I'm also thinking of doing zombie reindeer. Thoughts?
And on an unrelated note, do you know how freaking hard it is to put eyedrops in the eyes of a 2 1/2 year old?! Good LORD! Poor Ayden has pink eye (again), and it takes nothing short of a miracle to get those damn drops in. Seriously. Jeremy (my hubby), sitting on his chest, knees on his hands and holding his head steady, while I pry his eyes open to administer said drops. Only to be foiled by him snapping them shut as the drop falls. Ugh.
