Project 365

Damn straight you do . . .
It's getting warmer here in Colorado. Buds are out on the trees, things are starting to green up. Which I'm totally excited for! Warm weather, sunshine, cute skirts, days at the pool . . . .

But that also means that it's time for the bugs to come out. I'm not a fan of bugs. Some are cool, and I actually like them. You know, butterflies, ladybugs, praying mantis. Those bugs are awesome.

But we have weird bugs out here in Falcon. And by weird I mean horrifically scary and gross.

Like this bastard:

This is a sun scorpion. AKA wind scorpion and camel spider. Not really a true scorpion OR spider. They are freaking nasty. And mean! Here, let me show you it's jaws:

WTF????? What the hell kind of bug needs jaws like that?!?

And then we have these:

The Colorado potato beetle. Now, this guy looks pretty unassuming. But it's not fun when you're enjoying a nice adult beverage on your back porch as the sun is going down and a whole freaking swarm of them fly at you!!!!! And by swarm I mean 100-200 of the little bastards. Luckily they're usually only around for 1-2 weeks out of the year.

Because I hate them.

And of course, spiders. We have a ton of funnel weaver spiders here. Now, these guys aren't a threat to people or pets, but come on. They're spiders. And icky. And they get HUGE. And they move freaking fast.

I'm sure some of you are creeped out now. Well, serves you right. I have to deal with these in my own backyard. You might as well share my misery.

You're welcome.

On Sunday, we (meaning Jeremy, Ayden and I), took a trip down to Canon City to visit a couple of friends. It's about an hour from our house and the weather was pretty darn decent.

Here's Ayden playing Wii bowling. Which he loved. And now of course, he wants a Wii.

Jumping rope with his BFF Sarah! Watching a 3 year old and 4 year old jump rope is pretty darn entertaining.

Here's a great action shot. Look at the height! Look at the coordination! Ignore the car in the background . . .

Hopscotching it up. Oh yeah.
I love watching the kids play. And they play so well together that it gives us "adults" time to sit down and chat and catch up.
And eat pie. We totally ate too much pie.

First time riding his scooter!!! A Transformers scooter with a Spiderman helmet. Now he wants a Transformers helmet too . . . .

Hooray for DISLOCATED KNEECAPS!!!!

Ahhhhhh, yes. So, remember when I was all excited and announced that I was going to run the Bolder Boulder 10K? Yeeaaaahhhhhhh, totally not happening. Why? Because, in the course of training for it, I dislocated my right kneecap. AWESOME. Here's some background info:

When I was 19, I started running and loved it. I ran almost daily for 3 weeks and dislocated both of my kneecaps. It was ridiculously painful and I did physical therapy for 3 months after. My doctor and my physical therapist told me not to run or do any high impact exercises. Otherwise I'd end up dislocating them again.

Why am I so prone to dislocation?

1. I have an excessive Q-angle. Which means I have an angle greater than 25 degrees between my patellar tendon and quadriceps muscle.

2. My patella is misaligned on my knee joint in both of my legs. Which means that my kneecaps (patellas) sit too high in the joint, weakening the ligaments that support the patella.

3. I'm a chick. Yes, us females are more prone to this type of injury.

So, when I do something high impact, like jogging or running, my patellas tend to migrate laterally ( to the outside). And it hurts like bloody hell.

So, seeing how I have the exact same freaking injury, I'm NOT doing the 10K. I'd much rather not be in constant pain.

Stupid knees.

That's right. A two-headed baby blackbird. You can't deny the cuteness. Trust me. Don't even try.

OMG ADORABLE!! This is Jan - a needle felted bunny. Who also happens to be full of awesome.

Things that make you go hmmmmmm . . .

Ummmmmm, not sure I want to know what's going on here. It's like 2 transvestites battling over "who wore it best".
This makes perfect sense. It's a sexy reinactment of . . .ok, wait. It makes no sense.

Sex is totally like a velociraptor! Rawr!

That couldn't be any more perfect.

Thank you Captain Obvious. No, really. I totally thought it would be popular with gophers. Glad you cleared that up.
I really wish my eggs looked like this when I made them. I'd eat eggs all the freaking time!!
I hope you enjoyed Things That Make You Go Hmmmmmm.

Project 365

Yeah . . . . . .I totally didn't know what to take a pic of this morning before going to work. So, um, you get looking down into my basement. Wow. Exciting.

Yay, a zombie bunny!

I've been in a rut lately. Not feeling creative, not wanting to sew or really do anything to my shop. Which is bad. Why? Well, for one, it means my shop is feeling more like work and less like a creative outlit. And two, it means I don'thave any fun money (no production=no sales=no fun money).

I'm hoping my little hiatus recently will have me feeling refreshed and ready to create. Hoping being the opporative word. Because, while I enjoy my zombies, I'm starting to get bored. So, we'll see.

But here IS a new zombie bunny from me! Just in time for Easter!

His wittle bwains are all oozing out! How precious!
He sure looks pissed though . . .

Feature Friday - Noosed Kitty

This Friday's featured shop is Noosed Kitty. Noosed Kitty features the art of Jaime Fales.

I asolutely LOVE her artwork! I'm not sure how I'd describe it. A little gothic, a little cutesy, with some whimsy and humor.

This print is just pure awesome! Why? One, it's a boston terrier. Two, he's kinda zombie-ish. You can't go wrong with that combo.

This print is titled Pink Leaves. I find it very calming.

I'm digging Bat Girl. So forlorgn . . .
And of course I'd have to include Tools of a Trade Nurse . . . . .being a nurse myself and all.
If you want some unique artwork, please stop by Noosed Kitty.

Fun with Color!

Etsy has a fun feature where you can search items by colors. You click on a color, and Etsy will find items that match that color.
Awesome, right?

Darn right it is!

So I was messing around with the color feature and thought I'd share some with you.

Fox, by Jefita.
Orange rose print from flandersfield.

Lampwork beads from lampworkgarden.

Vintage lucite dangle beads from JadeDogBeads.

Yep. I'm on an orange/yellow kick. Makes me think of warm weather and spring!

Cheery!
